About protection gained from being attacked

I've been wondering exactly how this works... It seems that I cannot get off more than 2 attacks before my targets get into damage protection. This has happened with many people, both friends and foes, returning attacks and initiating them first. Yet on the forums I see ppl talking about "10 waves". Last night my base got wiped by someone in 7 attacks. Now it's relatively bothersome when I have to do the job in 2 attacks, while it seems others get many more. If my attacker had only 2 they wouldn't get anywhere. So what gives?

What triggers damage protection? What number of attacks, or is it a certain amount/% of buildings destroyed or what?

    From another thread:
    1) 4 attacks within 1 hour = 1 hour protection
    2) 25% of base hp destroyed = 12 hour protection
    3) 50% of base hp destroyed = 24 hour protection

Number 1 is definitely correct. I'm not sure if 2 and 3 are exactly on the spot, but it's something along those lines. If you can get only 2 attacks in it sounds like you destroy "too much" per attack. Try going for towers only in the start so that less of the base is destroyed per attack but opened up better for looting later.

Actually, its not the number of buildings

You get protection, depending on which buildings are destroyed. A destroyed Town Hall and Silos will give a player 12 hours protection, but 12 destroyed towers probably do not give protection. Also, the levels of the destroyed buildings do matter.

And about protection after two attacks: Maybe another player attacked your target two times aswell? After a player gets attacked four times, he gets protection for one hour!

Last but not least, the protection does not always work, only in 99% of all cases.

@ Tommy Thanks for the info. Still strange though...according to the attack logs the first 4 attacks came in a 48 minute interval. The 5th was 31 minutes later (following the 4th) so I guess the 1 hour protection begins not at the time of the 4th attack but at the time of the first?

@ Lara I'm certain destroyed towers do grant protection as I take out only towers with my first attack and usually the rest with the second (which leads to protection). Furthermore I am sure the protection didn't come from other player's attacks because on a few occasiopns I was able to follow my target's base and they were 1) online for a long time before my attack, and 2) nothing was damaged.

    Lara that is not true.

Last we checked it's based on the percentage damaged in total, not just certain buildings.

Many people reduce most of the resource buildings later on so if a person does destroy their towers they get protection so it's based on all damaged.

Razo - I've noticed if you use a mix of "Anything" and "Tower" monsters, you risk sending them into protection faster than if you just sent a few waves of tower monsters first and THEN your looters.. read the battle reports of people who are hitting you 7 times in 2 hours, and see what their strategy is..

Maybe it is just about % of health points, i did no tests about that. I just know: a destroyed Town Hall and destroyed Silos usually give protection. Maybe that is because they have high health points. And in most cases you can destroy all towers, without pushing the target into protection. Maybe because they do not have alot health points.

So, how did you check it and what are the results?

Thanks for the info guys. I'll try some of the suggestions and post the results. Blinkgoddess may be onto something. With my first attack I usually send only "tower" monsters taking away more than half their towers. Then the second tends to be a combination with some looters which usually kicks them into DP...oh well time and testing will tell

For me (like i replied in the thread you made about it blinkgoddess), from the last attack.

As an example i attacked a base earlier and had one of those annoying random oh-lets-have-this-pack-split-up-totally-instead-of-following-the-path-that-worked-fine-moments-ago. Which meant i couldn't do the job in 4 attacks. The person got 1 hour damage protection. I have a G15 keyboard, so i started a timer on the display, checking back every now and then. Protection was up at the 55 minute mark, and down around the 58 minute mark (i started the timer a little late as well).
