Shiny is not required to play the game as you can do pretty much everything without it, it just takes a bit longer to do. For all these reasons please do not suggest the following in this forum:
Giving daily shiny for the number of friends you have or any other measurement.
Making a building that gathers shiny like the other resource gathering buildings.
Making a building to convert other resources into shiny.
It is possible to earn 2,600 Shiny for free by completing quests, you get 1,000 for just building a General Store! Just click on the Quests tab in game and then click on "Bonus" on the left for a list of Shiny giving Quests.

All have different shadow graphics and the non-damaged ones have animation graphics.

"Backyard Monsters uses bitmaps instead of vectors as it uses less CPU to draw and can have more detail, texture and things like shadows and shading.
Sadly if you were to zoom in you would not get more detail, instead it would get blocky.
You could move your face closer to your screen though, that would work."
